- Vinh Phuc Province is located within three planning regions: the Red River Delta Region, the Northern Key Economic Region, and the Capital Region.

- It borders Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang Provinces to the north and Phu Tho Province to the west.

- It borders Hanoi to the east and south. It lies on National Highway 2, the Hanoi-Lao Cai railway line, and the Noi Bai-Lao Cai-Yunnan (China) expressway; it adjoins the Kunming-Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh economic corridor; it is adjacent to Noi Bai International Airport, and connects to Hai Phong Port via National Highway 5 and the Cai Lan deep-water port (Quang Ninh) via Highway 18.
